opTable

opTable
The table is the result of a competition ran by the London Legacy Development Corporation, which hold a copy of it in the reception of their office in Stratford. As an abstract interpretation of interspaces in the urban fabric between old and new parts of the city, the table forms itself using the shapes of the corrugated profile which characterized the landscape of industrial areas and the clean and sharp surface symbol of the regeneration.
For that reason, it is called “opposite table”, or rather “opTable”.
Innovatively carved from solid American black walnut using dedicated machinery and finished by hand, it looks like it has been relieved from the unnecessary load. This enhances the inherent beauty of the grain and the distinctive structural properties of the timber.
