Totem stone

This is a stone edition of the earlier oak Totem. It occupies a deliberate position between furniture and sculpture: a vertical figure with the directness of a monolith and the intimacy of a hand-held tool. The piece appears as though cut from a larger geological body, then honed into a disciplined, architectural silhouette: a faceted form that catches light along crisp edges, carrying weight yet feeling unusually calibrated and precise.

Up close, the solidity softens into a landscape of recesses and voids. These cuts are not decorative; they define a functional topography of slots, pockets, and negative spaces that invite use without dictating it. Dark bog‑oak inserts punctuate the pale stone, acting as tactile “keys” within the mineral surface: points of contact, markers, and removable elements that introduce warmth and grain. The dialogue is intentional and exacting: cool geological mass set against timber whose deep tone speaks of age and a different kind of permanence.

Produced in a limited edition, Scheggia frames craft as an act of editing, reducing, clarifying, and sharpening until the object becomes both instrument and artefact. It is a meditation on time as much as material: stone shaped with architectural restraint, and bog oak introduced as a dark, living counterpoint. Together they offer a quiet, enduring presence for contemporary interiors and collections.
